A sharp upturn in freight traffic over all system segments and
consequent demands on train-service personnel have caused Farmrail’s
popular “Quartz Mountain Flyer” public excursions to be suspended
for the 2012 season. Major
track-rehabilitation projects to increase effective capacity also
will affect normal freight operations throughout much of the year.
These improvements will eliminate certain restrictions on
train length and speed and also facilitate
future passenger excursions
to more on-line communities.
